Ten Years was not a very long time…and then twenty-ten (the pre-teen years of adolesence) is upon us…
2009 is now all over and we are in the first few hours of 2010. In spite of millions of people’s expectations that Barack Obama would perform major messianic miracles, 2009 brought us the worst financial situation for more than 50 years. In the midst of the deepening recession, as financial institutions were falling like dominoes, Bernie Madeoff made off with billions of investors hard earned savings. Al Gore and co tried to freak us out with the worry of being flooded out of this life by rising sea levels, caused by the fictitious Global Warming. Then there was the threat of millions of deaths from the dreaded Swine Flu (funny – have not heard a single word about it for weeks now ) 2009 could have closed with a major catastrophe on Christmas Day, had the Al Qaeda inspired attempt to blow up the Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. Whether it was Divine intervention, Islamic incompetence, or just plain good luck, the bomb was a fizzer and the aircraft and passengers were saved from certain destruction, while the would be terrorist only managed to burn himself.
With all of that now behind us, what can we expect in 2010 ? Even more of the same would be good news, because I expect things to get worse. I believe that one of the reasons for the rapid deteriorating state of the world is Genesis 12:3. The God of Israel told His servant Abraham that He would bless those who blessed him & his descendants, and that those who take Israel and the Jewish people lightly would experience the wrath of Israel’s God. Most nations in the world today are taking lightly the God-given right to occupy all of the territory that God promised to Abraham. The secular media has turned The Jewish people from being the victims of Islamic and Church inspired anti-Semitism, into blood thirsty monsters who oppress and murder the so called Palestinian people, even stooping as low as accusing the Israel army harvesting their organs.
The Holy One of Israel tells us in His Word that Israel is the lens of His eye. Zech 2:8 8 For thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. (NKJ) That tells me that everything God sees as He looks down from Heaven at every activity taking place on Planet Earth, He sees through the lens of Israel. And I dont think the All Powerful One is too happy with the way that most of the world ( and much of the Church ) treats His nation and his people. Of course there are other reasons why the Creator of the Universe is bringing the nations under His judgement. Abortion, homosexuality and other sexual immorality, idolatry and the love of money just to name but a few.
To quote form this weeks The Omega Letter Intelligence Digest Vol: 22 Issue: 28 – Monday, December 28, 2009 ………..
We’re just days from saying goodbye to the first decade of the 21st century. If one wanted to summarize the first ten years of the 21st century, it would be the Decade of Fear. The decade opened with the threat posed by the Y2K Bug to bring about the instantaneous destruction of Western civilization. Ahmed Ressam intended to ring in the New Year with a bomb attack against Los Angeles International Airport — the so-called Millennium Plot
One of the jokes making the rounds during the first decade of the 21st century went like this: “You know the end is near when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, France accuses America of arrogance and Germany doesn’t want to go to war.”
Add to that the election of a woefully inexperienced Chicago politician on the basis of his race, his coronation as the nation’s messiah and the introduction of national socialism and you begin to wonder if we’ll last until Saturday so we can say goodbye to the Decade of Woe.
So are we ready for what ever 2010 holds for our nations, and our families ? How do we best make ourselves ready ?
1/ We need to be physically prepared - a good degree of physical fitness in case we need to walk a long distance to save our lives or the lives of others.
– prepare a stock of drinking water and long-lasting foods - a comprehensive medical kit - copies of important documents and back ups of important
date in our computers - an escape and rendezvous plan with family & close friends and your home group (we may not be able to get to church)
2/ We need to be emotionally prepared – mentally ready to deal with a dramatic change in our lifestyles and comfort levels - once the money system crashes and they bring in the New World Order cashless system we wont be able to buy or sell unless we take the mark - that means we cant pay our rent or utility accounts, buy food and water, gas up our cars ……. nothing ! Are we emotionally ready to deal with that ?
3/ Most importantly we need to be spiritually prepared. We need to be firmly standing on The Rock. We need to know the Word and be led by the Holy Spirit. We need to be like Peter when the Lord called him out of the boat, he was able to walk on the water – until he focused on the waves and the wind instead of focusing on the Lord. We need to fix our eyes on Yeshua and do only what He tells us to do, and to trust the voice of the Lord only.
And always remember 1/ Great is He who is in us than he who is in the world
2/ If God is for us who can be against us
3/ No weapon formed against us will prosper
4/ When these things begin to happen, look up for our redemption is getting close
Josie and I, Stefan & Keren and Jordan pray that inspite of what comes in 2010, you and your family will be blessed, anointed, protected and prospered - in the name of Yeshua ……….. Amen & Amen
The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF -they are defending and fighting for the Kingdom of God.
Shabbat Shalom …. David & Josie
THIS WEEKS NEWS REPORTS
1. US to Jumpstart Peace Talks, but Israeli FM Says it’s Impossible Israel Today News Dec 28th
The Obama Administration is preparing a major relaunch of peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians, but Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said they are doomed to fail. A senior Arab diplomat told the AFP in Cairo on Monday that “US special envoy George Mitchell will present two draft letters of guarantee, one for Israel and one to the Palestinian Authority during his next visit to the region.” He said Washington hopes the two letters will serve as the basis for renewed peace talks, though the diplomat himself doubted it would work since the letter to the Palestinians does not include the demanded full cessation of Jewish construction in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. A day earlier, Lieberman said it is increasingly clear that a real peace agreement cannot be concluded in the next 10 to 20 years. “We think that if we make more concessions everything will work out,” the Jerusalem Post quoted Lieberman as telling a gathering of Israel’s 140 ambassadors in Jerusalem. “Even if we return the last grain of sand, and divide Jerusalem, and agree to all the demands, nothing will change and we will be in the same situation.”
Lieberman said that Israel had already gone above and beyond in its concessions and gestures for the sake of peace, including allowing the PLO terrorist organization to move into the region and set up as a sovereign power and uprooting 10,000 Jews from the Gaza Strip. On top of that, former prime ministers Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert had been willing to meet as much as 98 percent of remaining Palestinian demands, only to be slapped in the face by their “peace partners.” “It doesn’t matter what we offer, they will always find an excuse to say ‘no,’” noted Lieberman. Pointing out that the Palestinians cannot even remain united themselves, as evidenced by the Hamas-Fatah conflict, Lieberman lamented that there is little hope the current generation will see peace.
Please pray that the Lord’s peace plan will be established
2. Washington Squawks Over New Homes for Jews in Jerusalem Israel Today News Dec 28th
The Obama Administration on Monday criticized Israel for approving plans to build 700 new apartments in three Jewish neighborhoods on the eastern side of Jerusalem, which the Palestinians claim as their future capital. The apartments will be built in neighborhoods that are home to tens of thousands of Jews already, and which almost no Israeli agrees should be surrendered and emptied of Jews as part of any peace deal with the Arabs. But with Washington increasingly taking the Palestinian view of issues on the ground, an administration official speaking on condition of anonymity was not shy in referring to the new construction as settlement activity. “…we consider all the Israeli settlements to be beyond the pale of what we wish to see going on, and are not helpful, again, to getting the two sides back to the table,” the official said in remarks to the Associated Press.
Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev reminded the Americans that Israel does not “make a distinction between the West Bank and Jerusalem. Jerusalem is our capital and remains such.” Other officials also noted that eastern Jerusalem was not included in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s partial 10-month settlement freeze designed to get the Palestinians back to the negotiating table. Unreported by most media outlets was the fact that the Jerusalem municipality also approved the construction of 500 new Arab housing units on the same day.
Please pray that the Israeli government will ignore the demands of the US administation and cancel the settlement freeze
3. Israel Eliminates Rabbi’s Palestinian Killer Israel Today News Dec 28th
The Israeli army on Saturday shot and killed the Palestinian terrorist responsible for a roadside shooting two days earlier that left an Israeli rabbi and father of seven dead. Israeli troops surrounded the home of the terrorist in the Samarian city of Nablus and demanded that he surrender himself. When the terrorist refused, the troops opened fire, killing him and two accomplices. Israeli settlers, who have been at odds of late with the security establishment over enforcement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s temporary settlement freeze, praised the swift retaliation following an attack on one of their own.
However, settler leaders noted that had the government and army not succumbed to American pressure to remove so many roadblocks in the area, Thursday’s fatal shooting that left Rabbi Avshalom Chai dead probably wouldn’t have happened.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority condemned Israel for eliminating Rabbi Chai’s killer, and accused the Jewish state of reinstating an “assassination policy.” PA Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaineh said that rather than Palestinian terrorist attacks on Jews, it was Israel’s retaliatory operations that were dragging the region into violence instead of peace. However, many Palestinians who spoke to local media outlets insisted that the Israeli raid on the terrorist’s Nablus hideout was facilitated by PA security forces. They noted that prior to the operation, all PA security personnel left the area.
Hamas jumped at the opportunity to further defame the PA by accusing it of “collaboration” with the Zionist enemy. Of course, the various agreements between Israel and the Palestinians obligate the latter to collaborate at every level with Israel to end the scourge of Islamic terror in the region. Israeli security officials praised what they called “determined and impressive” action by PA security forces in the wake of Rabbi Chai’s murder, including the arrest of some 120 suspects. That praise further strengthened claims that the Palestinian Authority was cooperating with Israel at some level. Many Israelis are waiting for the day that the Palestinians are no longer speaking out of both sides of their mouths by cooperating with Israel behinds the scenes (if indeed that is what happened) and then condemning the Jewish state in public.
4. Hamas: We Foiled Israeli Attempt to Locate Gilad Shalit Ha Aretz News Dec 31st
The internal security apparatus of Hamas claims to have foiled an Israeli attempt to collect intelligence on where kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit is being kept. According to the head of Hamas’ internal security service, Abu Abdullah, the Shin Bet security service has tried gathering intelligence through members of the rival Fatah organization who have operated in the Gaza Strip in the past. The report appears to be mostly an attempt to smear the Palestinian Authority and its activities. Abu Abdullah said in an interview to a Web site affiliated with Hamas, Falastin Alan, that the Fatah operatives hired a house and cars in the eastern part of Gaza City and planned to kidnap a senior figure in the military wing of Hamas and bring him to Israel. He did not specify when the operation was to take place.
Meanwhile, the Hamas Web site reported that the negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit have met with Israel’s refusal to release four “senior” prisoners. The four are: Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti, secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Ahmed Sa’adat, and two of the heads of Hamas’ military wing in the West Bank, Ibrahim Hamad and Abdullah Barghouti, who are responsible for the murders of dozens of Israelis in suicide bombings. On the other hand, a member of the Hamas politburo, Izzat al-Rishq, stressed in an interview to the Arabic language TV station Al-Jazeera that the Islamist Palestinian group is continuing consultations on the proposal relayed to it by the German mediator. Rishq rejected the report Tuesday by TV station Al-Arabiya that Hamas had turned down the proposal. The Hamas official refused to offer details on the substance of the proposal from Israel or comment on problems that Hamas may have with it.
Please pray that Gilad will escape or be rescued unharmed
5. Israeli Government Braces For More Petitions to Open Roads ICEJ News Dec 31st
A day after the High Court of Justice ordered the IDF to open Highway 443 to Palestianian traffic defense officials said Wednesday that the Defense Ministry is preparing legal arguments against an expected spate of court petitions to open other roads currently only open to Israeli cars because of security concerns. On Tuesday, the High Court of Justice ordered the IDF to open Route 443 – which links Jerusalem to Ben-Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv – to Palestinian traffic. The road was closed to such traffic in 2002 following a spate of terror attacks along the road that killed six people. Until then, the road had served as many as 55,000 Palestinians living in several villages along the length of the highway, including Beit Sira, Safa, Beit Ur a-Tahta and Khirbet el-Misbah. Modi’in Mayor Haim Bibas, in an interview with Israel Radio Wednesday morning, said the High Court of Justice decision to open the 443 highway to Palestinian traffic is “detached from reality.” Bibas stressed that the road was closed after various terror attacks, is now safe and constitutes a central artery for traffic.
According to the B’Tselem advocacy organization, there are still 59 kilometers of roads in the West Bank that are off limits to Palestinian traffic. Most notably are the roads that link the Palestinian village of Hawara with the settlement of Elon Moreh, the road that connects the Palestinian town of Salfit with Road 5 and the Kedar road near Ma’aleh Adumim. Officials said that the Defense Ministry’s legal department was preparing defenses for expected petitions by human rights and advocacy organizations against the closure of these roads to Palestinian Authority traffic. “The court ruling on 443 sets a precedent based on which groups will likely try to get other roads opened,” one official said.
The court gave the IDF five months to make preparations to open a 14-kilometer section of Road 443 that is between two checkpoints – one called Maccabim near Modi’in, and the other on the opposite side near Jerusalem. To ensure the safety of Israeli drivers, the IDF will likely increase its presence on the highway and erect additional watchtowers to deter and spot potential attackers. “This is a matter of strategic importance since this is one of only two highways that connects Jerusalem with the center of the country,” one IDF source said Wednesday. “We need to make sure that it is safe and open at all times.” In addition to potential shooting attacks on the road, the IDF is also concerned with the possibility that Palestinian terrorists will plant improvised explosive devices near the highway. Two weeks ago, security forces discovered the remains of an IED – made of a gas balloon and firecrackers – that had gone off along the road.
Please pray that this dangerous decision will be reversed
6. In Absence of Peace, Israel Has Chosen ‘Peace-Lite’ Ha Aretz News Jan 1st
The previous decade began with Israeli hopes of peace, but was characterized by wars and disappointment. On January 1, 2000, the country was on the brink of signing an agreement with Syria, and was a few months away from reaching a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. Or at least that is how it appeared back then, with numerous peace conferences, rounds of negotiations and diplomatic summits taking place. At the end of summer that year, however, everything changed. The peace process collapsed in both channels, the Syrian and the Palestinian, and in its stead the second intifada broke out, lasting more than four years and leading to the deaths of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians. The delicate infrastructure of the Oslo Accords, which relied on cooperation between Israel and Yasser Arafat’s state-in-the-making, fell apart, never to return. Prospective agreements that surfaced during the course of the decade all came to naught. In place of the false anticipation for “an end to the conflict,” Israel developed a new model that can be termed “peace substitute” or “peace-lite.” Instead of political agreements setting out terms for security arrangements and normalization, the new approach relied on setting boundaries that would grant Israel international legitimacy for acts of self-defense. Instead of control on the ground, Israel would deter its enemies from afar, through its air force. It was deterrence in place of peace.
Israel subsequently withdrew from South Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, and discovered that the other side also prefers deterrence to peace. Hezbollah’s rocket stockpile up north and Hamas’ presence in the south were meant to counterbalance the Israel Defense Forces’ firepower. Twice Israel went to war, in Lebanon in 2006 and in Gaza in 2008, and in both cases, the mutual deterrence formula – “destruction versus destruction” – was eventually restored. A similar process took place with the Syrian channel, but more cautiously, and without the terrible price the other wars exacted in casualties, physical destruction and economic devastation. Syria strove to bolster its deterrence against Israel by secretly building a nuclear reactor and arming Hezbollah. Israel attacked the nuclear facility in Syria in 2007, and, according to foreign sources, it also engaged in widespread clandestine activity on the Syrian side, culminating in the assassination of senior figures. Again, the motive was maintaining deterrence. The Syrians did not respond to the bombing of their reactor, or to the assassinations on their territory, and thus all-out war was avoided.
7. Iran Soccer Body Sends Israeli Team New Year`s Greeting Jerusalem Post Dec 31
The Iranian football federation sent its Israeli counterpart a new year’s greeting on Thursday, Army Radio reported, in what a Tehran official described as a mistake. Mohammad Ali Ardebili, director of foreign relations for the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, told Army Radio that he had not intended to send the missive to the Israel Football Association. “It is a greeting sent to every country in the world,” Ardebili said. He quickly then inquired: “Are you talking from Israel? I can’t speak with you. It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake.” The greeting was received in Israel by the head of the Israel Football Association’s legal department, Amir Navon. “He came into my office asking me if I thought it was a mistake,” said body spokesman Gil Levanoni/ “So I told him that I didn’t know, but that we should send in a reply.” Levanoni and Navon said they replied to the greeting with a “happy new year to all the good people of Iran,” and said: “We also added a wink.”
