Dear Faithful Friend,

Three weeks ago with the setting of the sun, the Hebrew month of Tishri arrived. In the Jewish world, there is no place where these Feasts have more of an impact than in the nation of Israel. Here, the Jewish Feasts are the national holidays.

Over the past three weeks, we have celebrated the Feast of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah. For Rosh Hashana, we gathered together with a house full of Israelis, both believing and non believing and I shared the testimony of God’s faithfulness to Israel. Our secular Israeli family heard the Biblical commandments read from the Torah and all listened as I explained to them the significance of the Feast of Trumpets. The evening’s festivities were highlighted by the sounding of the Shofar, as we obeyed God’s ancient commandment to observe a Sabbath of Remembrance.

Ten days later, our congregation Ahavat Yeshua along with four other congregations gathered together for twenty-four hours of prayer, fasting and fellowship to observe the solemn day of Yom Kippur. The conference which was attended by over 200 people was powerfully blessed as God worked deeply in all of our hearts. Hours were spent in intercession and prayer for our people Israel and for the believers throughout the world.

Upon arriving home from the conference, as is the tradition here, we immediately set about building our Sukkah. Last Wednesday, we celebrated the start of the Feast of Tabernacles in our brightly decorated Sukkah, overflowing with our extended Israeli family.  Once again, a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness to Israel along with a testimony of the coming Messiah was held up before all of our guests. And since that opening night, we have observed God’s commanded blessing to eat in the Sukkah with many friends and family coming to join us almost every night.

This Wednesday evening marked the start of the eighth and final day of Sukkoth. Again, our home was filled with family as we observed God’s call to set this day apart as a special day of remembrance. We gathered together and kept the Feast and had a deep time of sharing with one of our guests who is going through a difficult period in his life.

Tonight as the sun goes down and the holiday ends, we will take down our beautiful sukkah and store it away for another year.  We have kept God’s appointed time and we have fulfilled his commandment. We have sat in our sukkah, we have shared the goodness of the Lord with many and we have built up his local body by strengthening the cords of love and commitment between us.

Although the official day of Simchat Torah is Thursday evening, we will be celebrating this holiday in our congregation on Shabbat. We are looking forward to a very joyous celebration in which we will read the last chapter of Deuteronomy from the Torah, and then the ancient scroll will be rolled back to its beginning, so that the Torah reading may start again from Genesis and the story of creation. With the end of this Shabbat, the celebration of the Feasts of Tishri will have reached their wonderful completion and we will return to a more normal life.

There were many seeds planted over this wonderful season of the Fall Feasts in Israel. Please join us in praying for hearts to respond to the various testimonies of God’s faithfulness to this nation that were shared with so many. We believe that this is the season of harvest and that TODAY is the day of salvation for Israel. Pray that this will be a year of great fruit for the Kingdom here in Israel and throughout the world.

The Nations

Another wonderful aspect of these holidays is the “coming up” of Christians from the nations of the world to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feasts. This “coming up”, which is a prophetic foreshadowing of the final Sukkoth that is spoken of in Zachariah 14, is an incredible testimony to the people of Israel. In Jerusalem, there were numerous celebrations and festivals as different Christian groups gathered  to celebrate the Jewish roots of their faith and their deep love and appreciation of Israel.

On Tuesday afternoon, thousands of Christians joined together in the annual “We Love Israel” march. An estimated 60,000 Israelis lined the streets to experience the love and support that the exuberant, visiting Christians poured out as they marched through the streets of Jerusalem, proclaiming their love for the Jewish people and their support of this nation.

The ministries of Revive Israel and Maoz co-sponsored a “One New Man” Conference over this past week. Over seventy Israeli leaders along with a large number of Chinese believers joined together for an incredible five days of worship, prayer and teaching. The event was historic as deep and lasting bridges were built between the local Israeli Messianic body and the nation of China. The meetings were filled with very anointed worship, challenging teaching and much prayer.

Travel Plans

On Sunday morning, October 6, we will be leaving for a three week speaking tour in the States. We will be in New York, Virginia and Florida and will be speaking at sixteen different meetings. Please join us in praying for physical strength and great anointing as we share with and meet many different people. We will send out a copy of our planned itinerary over the next few days. If you are able to get to one of our meetings, please come up and give us a personal hello. We look forward to seeing many of you.

We thank you for standing with us as we run the race that God has set before us. By his grace and the strength he gives us and your love, prayers and support, we will run it to the end. May His glory fill the earth!

We send you our love from Zion,

Eddie and Jackie
